STOP THE PRESS!!
AVID JAZZ release a new album from living artists!!
Yes you are reading this correctly, our latest release on the Avid Jazz imprint is part of an occasional series
of releases featuring great British jazz stalwarts.
This time we hit the big time with not one but two legendary sax men, the composer and band leader John
Dankworth and famed Humphrey Lyttleton sideman Danny Moss. As our title suggests these two veterans
have not recorded together for 42 years since the days when their paths crossed regularly when Moss was
first in the Dankworth Big Band from 1957 - 1962 and later when he joined the Lyttleton line up.
This Quintet recording features other such great British jazz sidemen as Dave Lee on piano who played
with Dankworth back in the 50s, Allan Ganley on drums again a member of the big band from 1953-55 and
John Horler on piano currently playing with the present Dankworth/Cleo Laine line up.
Sit back and enjoy a fine blend of informality and loose organisation as these seasoned musicians take you
through a set of classics including numbers by Duke Ellington, Count Basie and John Dankwoth himself.
Rehearsed and recorded in a single day they dont make em like this any more, at least not often enough for
out liking!!
