Taking as our inspiration the classic Dennis Potter TV series from the 1970s Pennies From Heaven, this compilation gathers together a veritable cavalcade of wonderfully evocative music from an almost forgotten musical period during the first half of the 20th Century!
We have included some memorable musical moments from the series such as Roll Along Prairie Moon, You Rascal You, Anything Goes, Radio Times , Well Make Hay While The Sun Shines, Love Is Good For Anything That Ails You and of course Pennies From Heaven. Alongside we have also included some classics from the era such as Lets Face The Music And Dance, Over The Rainbow , Moonlight Serenade, A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square, As Time Goes By and many others.
Pennies From Heaven told the story of salesman Arthur Parker as he travelled around the country selling sheet music and discovering sex and love along the way! It was a stunningly original concept to seamlessly blend the musical numbers into the story and anyone who saw the series is sure never to forget it!
Our superb double CD tells the musical story of the era and reminds us once again that the songs from this golden period will never be forgotten.
