AVID Jazz continues with its Five Classic Album series with a re-mastered 2CD release from Charlie Parker, complete with original artwork, liner notes and personnel details.

At last, the wait is over, we hear you cry, again! AVID have finally inducted Charlie Parker into our Four Classic Albums “hall of fame”! In fact, you have waited so long and so patiently that we have decided to add in another album to make it Five Classic Albums! Over the last ten years or so we have been carefully building our catalogue of jazz albums to include not only the greats, but also the guys (and gals) who maybe never got the attention they deserved but were arguably just as talented as the greats whose names we all know so well. We thought these guys (and gals) needed to be heard and remembered before their music got too expensive to buy or they disappeared forever. Having covered many of these lesser names alongside the bigger ones we decided we needed to catch up on a few greats we had missed, primarily because their catalogues had been well represented out there in record-land. Recently we have released albums by true giants of jazz like Lester Young (AMSC1307), with a second set to follow shortly (AMSC1366), a second set by both Ben Webster (AMSC1354) and Benny Carter (AMSC1353) as well as a first set by the fabulous Sarah Vaughan (AMSC1352), Dinah Washington (AMSC1367) and a second by Billie Holiday (AMSC1329). Ok, so we have taken our time in paying tribute to one of the greatest sax players who ever lived, but we wanted to get it right, we wanted to select the best albums that truly captured the huge talents of Charlie Parker. We didn’t want to give you just any ol’ bird! And we think with the selections we have chosen we furnished our feathered friend with five fine examples of his fabulous talents!
