We at AVID are proud of the fine roster of female jazz singers nestled within our extensive jazz catalogue. Along with the more obvious names like Ella, Billie and Peggy we have many other fine jazz singers such as Anita O’Day (AMSC1136, 1129 & 963), Dakota Staton (AMSC1312 & 1259); Jeri Southern (AMSC1291); Chris Connor (AMSC1089); Ernestine Anderson (AMSC1170); Lurlean Hunter (AMSC1171); Morgana King (AMSC1021) the list is indeed, extensive. Some you may know, others perhaps not, but they are all wonderful singers and all deserve your attention, believe us! To this fabulous catalogue we can now add, perhaps a little belatedly, you may reasonably argue, the legendary Sarah Vaughan. One of the very few female jazz singers along with the afore mentioned Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday who can truly be called a jazz icon.
