Another busy guy, Jerome Richardson started plying the alto sax at the age of 8, and along the way managed to master the flute , piccolo, clarinet and , baritone and tenor sax by 1951. He was so busy playing in other people’s bands and on sessions that he didn’t get round to recording his own first album “Midnight Oil” until 1958. Artists he has played with include Lionel Hampton, Earl Jones, Oscar Pettiford, Hank Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Chico Hamilton, Gerry Mulligan and Buddy Collette.
