Vibraphonist, pianist, writer, arranger and bandleader Teddy Charles is perhaps best regarded more for his arranging and composing than for his playing although he was a more than capable vibes player! His most important asset was perhaps his open minded approach to the new jazz emerging in the 1950’s led by the likes of George Russell and Charles Mingus and the Jazz Composers Workshop. Teddy Charles has played with Miles Davis, Wardell Gray, Anita O’Day. Roy Eldridge, Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw.
